In the beginning...

One day back in 1995 I was looking through the video store for something to watch. I came across an old VHS tape of the first Thundercats episode. I brought it home and watched it with my 4 year old son. He must have watched that tape 10 times before we had to return it. He would run around the house with a cardboard tube yelling Thunder, Thunder, Thundercats Hooooooo!

BBS systems were at their peak and Compuserve, Prodigy and a new company AOL were just starting to provide access to the Internet. Netscape was the only real Internet browser there was and the World Wide Web was the new fronteer. I have been programming BBS Door programs for years and was just starting to learn HTML and web programming. I decided that a Thundercats site would be a great way to learn.

The first page was at Geocities. It was a simple page, an image of Panthro I found on some other cartoon page and a simple message: "I want to make a Thundercats page. If anyone has any images let me know"

A few weeks later I got an email from Ian Burkard. He was 15 years old and lived somewhere in North Carolina. He was a budding digital artist who could make the pictures but did not know much about web programming. It was the perfect match!

He started sending the images I started making the pages and the rest is history.

A lot has happened in the last 14 years. Compuserve and Prodigy are gone. AOL is a multi-billion dollar company. World Wide Web has become and integral part of our lives. My son is now 18 and starting college. Ian has since graduated college and is working in the digital film 3D animation industry. Thundercats was put back on the air (Cartoon Network), Taken of the air, and then put back on (Thanks, in part, to a petition from our website users). There was a release of all the episodes to DVD, and now it looks like there is a movie in the works.

Other Thundercats sites have come and gone. For a while it looked like our site was doomed to stagnation. Well we are back and ready to go. I have been in contact with Larry Kenney (lion-o) and Janice Wolf (The creator's daughter). We have our ear to the rail and will make available any credible information we get about the up coming movie. With community support we will create THE ULTIMATE THUNDERCATS WEBSITE. Thundercats are on the move, Thundercats are loose... Thunder, Thunder Thundercats Ho!!!!
